Bob Carpenter brings to the classroom a broad range of business experience gained in a variety of high technology companies. The organizations he has worked with range from a multi-national defence contractor, to the builders of the space shuttle Canadarm, to the largest telecommunications company in the world, to a fast growing Waterloo based laser imaging company, to a seven man struggling engineering company.
Bob’s background in international sales and contract negotiation, combined with an engineering degree and MBA, led him to be Director of Programs at Spar Aerospace, VP and General Manager of the Communications Division of Alcatel Canada Wire and Vice President, Industrial Imaging at Virtek Vision. More recently, Bob learned much about the contrasts of large and small business when he formed his own company and tried and exploit some state-of the-art imaging technology.
Throughout these experiences Bob has tried to serve all the stakeholders; employees, shareholders, clients, suppliers and family and to focus on how profitable business can be built through effective marketing and people management. Bob teaches courses that draw on his background and he relates the studies to the realities of the business world.
Bob moved to North Bay, where his daughter and grand children live, at the beginning of 2006 and has enjoyed learning about the town and its seasons. His interests, beyond family, include cycling, sailing and traveling.
