Dr. Jarvis teaches courses in the pre-service, in-service, and graduate education programs within the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University, North Bay, Ontario, Canada. His research interests include technology, integrated curricula, teacher professional learning, and educational leadership.
In 2011-12, Dan will be instructing Mathematics Education (Primary/Junior) (BEd) and Understanding Education (MEd). For research, he will be involved with an Intermediate mathematics study entitled RE4MUL8 (web, mobile, social networking) in which he is co-creating an online/mobile instructional resource for Grade 7 and 8 teachers of mathematics. He will also continue to lead a SSHRC International study focusing on Computer Algebra System (CAS) usage at the post-secondary level.
Dan currently serves as Chair of the Graduate Studies in Education Committee (MEd + PhD in Educational Sustainability). He is also a member of the Nipissing University Mathematics Education, Research, and Information Centre (NUMERIC), the Nipissing University Senate and Senate Executive, the Canadian Society for Education through Art (CSEA-SCÉA), and the GeoGebra Institute of Canada (GIC-IGC).
