THE URBAN WOLF PROJECT

Wolves are generally considered to be a "wilderness" species … but there is evidence that wolves are operating within the city limits of North Bay (hence the term "urban wolves")!

The Urban Wolf Study Group – consisting of people from Nipissing University, the Canadian Ecology Centre, the MNR, the Fur Harvesters’ Auction, the North Bay Animal Hospital, and Near North Labs – is preparing to commence a GPS / telemetry / ear-tagging / track-following study this fall. We will use DNA technology to examine the possibility that these animals may be wolf-dog hybrids. Stay tuned for further developments!!!

Signs found …

… within city limits!
