Education of Native Canadians    EDUC 4986

This optional 3-credit course for B.Ed. candidates is offered on Monday evenings.

The course is described in Nipissing's Calendar as follows: An examination of the cultural and social aspects of Native Canadian life relevant to education: the legal, historical and sociological aspects of Native Canadian education; an introduction to teaching in Native Canadian schools; practicum placement will be provided if possible.

The course began as the "Study Group on Education of Native Canadians" at North Bay Teachers' College in 1971-72, when it was co-taught by Alan Johnson and John Long.
