Learn About Statistics Canada Terminology Using the Search Engine
  1. Open the appropriate Program – ex: Dimensions-Official Lang. – Officielles.
  2. Select a language (English or French).
  3. Choose to accept the Licensing Agreement.
  4. Once you have entered the program, enter a subject on the subject line (ex: Mother Tongue).  Press Enter.
  5. Choose a subject from the List (ex: Mother Tongue) and double-click on it or click on the Down Arrow.
  6. The subject you selected is now showing in the Query section.  Click on the About the Data tab at the top of the screen.
  7. The results of the search give you two Topics.  Choose the 1st one (ex: Census Concepts:  Language: Mother Tongue) by double-clicking on it or by selecting it and clicking on the Show button
  8. This displays a Description of the topic.
  9. To display a description of another topic, click on the Drop-down arrow and choose a new topic from the list.
