Spreadsheets

Instructions for downloading, creating and using a spreadsheet from E-Stat web version:

  1. Get to the data which you would like to modify, for example the data that are shown here.

  2. Once you get this data, scroll down to the Download to a file: section.  Click on the Spreadsheet .WK1 File icon.

  3. You will now get a download screen.  Save the file to a disk (usually a:\), and give it an appropriate name.

  4. Now minimize all of your screens by clicking on the button in the top-right corner of the screen.

  5. Open your spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel or Lotus 1-2-3.

  6. Once the program has started, go to File, and choose Open.

  7. You will now have the "file open" window.  In the bottom drop-down list ("Files of type"), choose "All Files".  In the drop-down list at the top of the window ("Look In"), choose the Disk (A:\).

  8. You will now see the file that you saved to disk.  Click on it, click on Open.

  9. You are now free to edit the spreadsheet as you wish.

  10. To save your changes, go to File and click on Save As... . Rename your file and choose (in the Save as Type drop-down list) the appropriate file type (ie: for Microsoft Excel, it is "Microsoft Excel Workbook").  Now click on Save As.
