
This year we have many exciting events, including: award-winning Mohawk documentary filmmaker Tracey Deer speaking as part of the annual Gender Equality Lecture Series; an art-based workshop about recognizing, building on and sustaining non-capitalist economies in North Bay led by Winnipeg artist, activist and PhD candidate in Geography at UBC, Tyler Rebecca Pearce; and the imagineNATIVE film festival at the beautiful Capitol Centre Theatre, complete with Gateway City Roller Derby ushers.

Tracey Deer co-directed One More River: The Deal that Split the Cree with Neil Diamond (Cree), and then wrote, directed and filmed Mohawk Girls and Club Native. She has won many awards and has multiple projects underway including a TV pilot, Escape Hatch, covering the Olympics for APTN, and a feature documentary on the residential school era.
