Introduction to Psychology I<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

This course emphasizes scientifically-based biological and environmental explanations of human and animal behaviour. The course topics will focus on:

Introduction to Psychology II<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

This course builds on Introduction to Psychology I. We will examine ideas and findings focused on:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

PSYC 4105 – Senior Empirical Thesis<\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In this course, students conduct an empirical investigation of a research problem in psychology under the supervision of a Psychology Faculty member. After discussion and approval of faculty advisor, students identify their research topic. <\/span><\/p>\n

During the course, students engage in <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
novel, psychological research investigations,<\/span><\/td>\ndemonstrate competence in research design,<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
develop scientific oral presentation skills, &<\/span><\/td>\nwrite a final in a style suitable for a journal.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Procedures and Prerequisites<\/u>:
\nStudents must submit an Individualized Course Supervision Contract to the Chair of the Department by February 15 prior to the academic year when the course will be taken. Once this has been approved, they need to register through WebAdvisor for the course. <\/span><\/p>\n

This course is restricted to students in their fourth-year of the Honours Psychology program. Approval of the discipline is required prior to registration.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
