Welcome

I have come to the University after many years in education ( 36 to be exact!), at both the elementary and secondary levels. I did my teacher training at Brock University, back in the days when the program for teaching was still called Teachers’ College. Through extension programs at Brock, I completed a B.A. and M.Ed. degree, then moved on to the University of Toronto (O.I.S.E.) to complete my doctoral degree in Education in 1990.

During a long career, I have taught in classrooms in St. Catharines, North Bay, and Sturgeon Falls. I spent 6 years as a Transition Years ( Grades 7-10) coordinator, followed by 11 years in administration. I have been a secondary vice-principal, and have been principal in three elementary schools. During this time, I also worked on several Ministry of Education projects through secondments.

I first became associated with Nipissing University in 1989, when I taught the Principals’ Qualification Program through the university in North Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste.Marie, over a six year period. The university has grown so much since that time that I regularly stop people to help me with directions!

I hope that my varied background in education will help to enrich my teaching here at Nipissing University.
