Content: The focus of the course is on the causes/contributing factors to specific criminal behaviour and the impact of specific crimes on victims. Discussions regarding assessment and treatment will also be included.
Goals: By the end of the course, students should understand various theories, possible causes, and the impacts of specific criminal behaviour. Additionally, students will have knowledge of current research into the biological, psychological, and social aspects to criminal behaviour and victimization.
Course format: This seminar course will require students to find and read research regarding specific topics and use that research to discuss the topic under review each week. In most classes, a short documentary will be shown which will be discussed with respect to the assigned readings.
